"Paradise will be a burst of color and energy."
The word 'Paradise' is a strange visitor to an otherwise agonizing series of moments in Christ's suffering and death. The phrase 'Today you'll be with me in paradise' could be construed as a hazy promise for the future, or, as I see it, a sudden and exciting vision for where the cross leads. Alice's poetic settings have a rhythm akin to Lawrence Ferlinghetti, with a pace that invites a musical response. My setting for lead singer, ministry band, string quartet and choir is brief and to the point ... and should provide a nice contrast to the various other settings of the Last Words.
