The use of digital devices during the performance of The Baby That Did, including laptops, tablets, personal music players and smart phones .. has been approved.
THE BABY THAT DID encourages the presence of electronic devices during the one-act musical. Set in the present, the kids in the play are surprisingly selected to produce a video to represent their school in a local competition. In over their heads, the kids make a hilariously bad video (see below) ... but in producing the video, they live through an allegory of the birth of Christ.
A BRAND NEW WAY of learning about the Christmas story, THE BABY THAT DID compels students (and parents) to make the connections between the production of the video and the actual events of the Nativity. The music includes one original song (composed in real life by a nine-year old) and places to insert classic hymns. The script was written by David Kruse Coste, composer of Dirk Danger and the Lady in White and The Dogs Must Be Crazy. The musical runs for about 20 minutes and is suitable for stand-alone performance or inclusion in a worship service.
